Sermons by Herman Hoeksema
Rev. Herman Hoeksema in the mid-twentieth century was a rather prominent theologian; but his most basic commitment and deepest love was to preaching the gospel, and especially in following the guidance of the Heidelberg Catechism. In fact, his theology was in essence based on the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Scriptures on which it was founded. In this link we are presented with a series of sermons on the Catechism, preached in 1932-33, and transcribed a committed member of his congregation. It sought to look at the doctrines of the Catechism from a “practical” point of view, by which he meant not to give a series of instructions as to what one must or must not do, but rather the importance of living out of the gospel in spiritual fellowship with God.
